On June 16, 2015 BoatUS made a move that aligned all of it’s on the water towing services under one national brand, renaming it’s West Coast-based Vessel Assist towing fleet to TowBoatUS.

TowBoatUS, the national boating advocacy, services, and safety organization previously purchased Vessel Assist in 2003, and has since operated both recreational boat towing fleets under their membership-based BoatUS Towing Service program. Margaret Podlich, President of BoatUS, has stated “Other than a new name on the side of the towboat, BoatUS members and boaters needing assistance 24 hours a day will continue the same great, helpful, and professional service from our local captains.”

Even if you don't have a membership, we'll still assist you. But, commercial boat towing companies typically charge boat operators based on “Portal-to-Portal” pricing. This means they charge from the time they leave their port until the time that they return. These charges average over $275 per hour!
